The GoBike project, driven by modern developments, adopting best practices from international experience (both in the tourism sector and other sectors) and taking into account local characteristics and potential, aims at the smart digital transformation of new forms of tourism. Utilizing modern technologies, the project "Development and operation of technological applications for the promotion of cycling tourism in Region of Central Macedonia- GoBike" proposes the development and operation of a technological system of web platform and app for smart devices that will provide information services on cycling trails in the region of Olympus and the peripheral Seih Sou forest in Thessaloniki, evaluated according to the level of difficulty and accompanied by information related to areas of tourist interest. For the Region of Central Macedonia, the development and promotion of this form of tourism is a particular challenge as it offers the opportunity to claim a significant share of the new market and to achieve a lengthening of the tourist season while at the same time smoothing out the seasonality that has resulted from the adoption of the "sun and sea" motif.

The implementation of the project is expected to bring positive results to the wider region of the Region of Central Macedonia, as it will contribute to the promotion of sustainable forms of tourism that do not harm the environment, increase tourism product revenues, stimulate employment, attract new categories of tourists and strengthen its tourist identity.
